Ann was one of 10 children born in Daventry, Northamptonshire, England to John Skinner (1785-1850) and Ann Beeby (1787-1861). Her father was a farmer. As a teen she worked as a "shoe binder."

Ann worked at Burghley House in England. That is where she met and married her husband, Eber. They married December 31, 1850. She was baptized Mormon when elders came thru on June 17, 1850.

Ann was pregnant with her first child, Henry, when they took the Ellen Maria ship Feb 1 from Liverpool arriving in N. Orleans April 7, 1851. She didn't feel very well on the ship. They then took paddle wheeler up to St. Louis & made their way to Alton, IL where Henry was born in October & where they lived for a few years.. They had 3 more children there and lost a baby, Levania (1858). They farmed there.

Ann was set apart to be a midwife & nurse by Brigham Young. She delivered over 1,000 babies!

Aug 1st they left Alton on a paddle wheeler to meet the Ansil Harmon Co. in Florence, NB with their 4 children. This took about a week. Ann was pregnant. When arriving in Provo, baby Bertha died Oct. 10, immediately upon arrival. They had 3 more children in Provo.
The last child, John, was born handicapped & only lived to be 29. Eber built a two story adobe house in Provo. Ann was a midwife.

Tragedy struck again in 1897 when daughter Zeda had a heart attack & died. Ann & Eber raised Zeda's 4 younger children along with their own. Sadly, Zeda's last son, Harold, died of typhoid fever in 1907 at age 11.

Ann and Eber were married almost 60 years. He died in Sept of 1908. She died in May, 1909 of a stroke.
