Timothy Renstrom, 49, died Saturday, August 4, 2001 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 8th, at Salem Lutheran Church in Stephen with Rev. Gary Halverson officiating. Ellen Johnson will be the organist, and the soloist will be Wendy Blazejewski. Casketbearers will be Brian Renstrom, Randy Renstrom, John Kujava, Mark Hoper, Greg Winskowski, Lyle Walz, Scott Troska and Ben Kleinwachter. Military honors will be accorded by the Karlstad and Strandquist American Legion Posts. Interment will be in Salem Church Cemetery in Stephen.
Visitation was held after 6 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, August 7, at Collins Funeral Chapel in Karlstad. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.
Timothy Willard Renstrom was born on November 16, 1951 in Warren, the son of Willard and Gladys (Kittelson) Renstrom. He grew up in Nelson Park township of Marshall county near Strandquist. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Strandquist. In September of 1969, Tim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany and Vietnam.
On December 26, 1971, he was united in marriage to Leone Walz at Salem Lutheran Church. Following his discharge from the military in May of 1972, the couple returned to the Renstrom family farm where they had since made their home. Tim drove truck for Donarski Trucking and L.B. Hartz. Employment also included American Crystal Sugar in Drayton, N.D., Marvin Windows in Warroad and as a carpenter for Marshall County Builders for several years.
Tim was longtime member of Salem Lutheran Church, serving on the church council. He was a past commander of the Strandquist American Legion Post and was currently a member of the Karlstad American Legion Post.
Survivors include his wife, Leone; two sons, Brian of Owatonna and Randy of Prior Lake; four sisters, Grace (Russell) Wollin of East Grand Forks, Carol (Carl) Britten of Halma, Susan (Allen) Frei of Stephen and Darlene (Rodney) Gryskiewicz of Watertown, S.D.; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Tim was preceded in death by a daughter, Errin in 1980, and his parents.
