Susan Ann Marie Renstrom was born in Warren, Feb. 8, 1950, the daughter of Willard and Gladys (Kittelson) Renstrom.
Susan grew up at Strandquist, and graduated from Strandquist High School in 1968. She married Carl Troska on May 15, 1971. Susan worked at the Gillette Company in St. Paul. After returning to Northwest Minnesota, Susan worked at the Strandquist School.
Moving to Stephen in 1974, she owned and operated Unique Creations, and was a Home Interiors Coordinator for many years.
On July 30, 1988 she was united in marriage to Allan Frei at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Donaldson.
Family members include her husband, Allan, Stephen; a daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Pagnac, Fargo, and a son, Scott Troska, Stephen; three grandchildren, Carson, Brady and Carly; three sisters, Grace (Russell) Wollin, East Grand Forks; Carol (Carl) Britten, Halma, and Darlene (Rodd) Gryskiewicz, Watertown, SD; a sister-in-law, Leone Renstrom, Strandquist; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Timothy; and a niece, Errin.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Stephen. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery, rural Stephen.
Rev. Michael Schendel and Rev. Pat Higgins, presided. Leslie Widner was organist and David Gustafson, soloist.
Pallbearers were Susan's nephews, Chris Britten, Courtney Britten,Brian Renstrom, Randy Renstrom, Andrew Wollin, John Gryskiewicz,Allan Schaeffer, Terry Donarski, Shawn Donarski, Kevin Donarski and Nicholas Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers were Arlene Wold, Eunice Smith, Sandy Clark, Barb Thorsteinson, Dawn Degeldere, Lonnie Kujava and Grace Hornbaker.
The Adamson-Austin Funeral Home, Stephen assisted the family with arrangements.
