Born Anastasia Korbutiak in present day Ukraine, she immigrated to Canada in 1908, according to our family book entitled "Dedo's Children" written by John and Lena Hryhor. Also, we have been able to determine that she is linked to Rurak/Syrotiuk family, and a Semotiuk/Demchuk/Korbutiak family. Her side of the of family has been linked to Kolomea Ukraine. Her obituary states she had a sister, but no one that is living knows who that sister was. The only grandchild that may have known was Ellen, and she has moved beyond the veil.

She immigrated with her husband, Steve Hryhor, and her children from Sheho Canada in 1921 to Florida, USA. After immigrating to Florida, she and her family experienced the one of the most catastrophic hurricanes to hit Florida while living in Lake Okeechobee in US history. Everyone survived to tell the tale.

Her headstone gives a birth year of 1890 however, many other documents state she was born in 1889.
