Mrs. Frank Black, nee Rebecca Anna Evans, was born in Jackson County, Indiana, February 21, 1850 and died in Brooks, Iowa, January 15, 1923, aged 72 years, 19 months, and 24 days. She came to Iowa with her parents, (William Runyon Evans and Elizabeth Findley) and her father’s family in 1856. Miss Evans was married to Alfred Freshour in February 1865. To this uno was born three sons, Charles E., Joseph M. and Jesse L.
Alfred Freshour died November 1872 and Miss Freshour was married to Frank Blank in February 1875. To Mr. and Mrs. Black one child was born, a daughter, now Mrs Minnie Arthur of Orpheum, Montana. Mrs. Black is survived by her three sons, one daughter, eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Frank Black died 14 years age, since which time Mrs. Black has lived most of the time in Brooks. Miss Black was a member of the Christian Church from the time she was quite young. She was a good mother, a quiet, confident Christian woman. The funeral services were held in the community hall in Brooks last Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by Rev. Mrs. Dessie Cook Dallas.
