Odelia Mary was the daughter of Noah Williams and Helene Eulalie Govreau (called Ellen). Odelia's name has been spelled various ways: Adelia, Odile, Mary O., Delia, Dellie, Delia, Odilia, Adele. There is some question as to the year she was born. Her tombstone and death certificate both give the birth year as 1866. However this would place her birth just six months after her parents married. Moreover, the informant on her death certificate was a son-in-law, who may not have known her correct birth year. Her obituary and Census records indicate her birth year was 1867. No other sources to date have been found to confirm one date over the other. She was married to Lawrence H. Govreau on 10 April 1888 at Saints Philip & James Catholic Church in River aux Vases, Ste. Genevieve County, MO. The couple had 12 children: Edward Henry (1889-1959), Elmer Francis (1891-1982) who later spelled the surname Govro, Rachel Helen (1892-1921) Mrs. John Louis Grieshaber, Emmett Francis (1893-1975), Gertrude Maria "Gert"(1895-1961) Mrs. Fred Kitzelman, Oscar Joseph (1896-1986), Mary Magdalenia "Maude" (1897-1937) Mrs. Isaac Eli Thomure, Mariam Lorene "Irene" born 1899 and died sometime between 1900 and 1910, Laura Emma (1900-1989) Mrs. Elmer R. Cox, Fred Joseph (1902-1949), Grace Philomena (1905-1983) Mrs. Alfred Eli Govro, and Charles Stancles (1907-1992). Odelia died from cancer of the uterus and intestines. The funeral was on the 26 of March 1934 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Weingarten, Ste. Genevieve County, MO and burial followed in that church cemetery. Her obituary incorrectly lists 2 "sisters" that preceded her in death (Rachel, Mrs. John Grieshaber; and Lorine). However they were her daughters NOT her sisters. SOURCES: death certificate, obituary, tombstone, 1880 Census, 1900 Census, 1910 Census, and marriage license.
