JOE WELLS JR1920-2001 Joe Wells Jr., 80, of Van Lear, died Monday Jan.29 2001 inPaul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville. Mr. Wells was born April 16, 1920, in Johnson County, a sonof the late Joe D. and Lilly Mae Webb Wells. He was a retired coal miner and a World War II Air Forceveteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Neil Wells. Surviving are his wife, Hilda Katherine Idigpio Wells; foursons, Thomas Earl Wells, David R. Wells, and Brian KeithWells, all of Daniels Creek and Edward Wells of Williamsport;a daughter, Lois Jean Wells Collins of East Point; threebrothers, Herbert Wells and Everett Wells, both of DanielsCreek and George Wells of Defiance, Ohio; two sisters,Geraldene Cassidy of Lexington and Josephine Cassidy ofDayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Jones-PrestonFuneral Home in Paintsville by Larry Joe Bayes. Burial will be in Wells-Webb Cemetery in Van Lear.
