William Smith died at his home at Half Acre at seven o'clock this morning from Asthma and a complication of diseases. He had been ill for a long time, but was only confined to his bad the past week.

The deceased was born in Franklin County, this state, January 9, 1821, and had been a resident of Wabash County for about fifty years. He was a veteran of the civil war, having been a member of Company F, 101st Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry.

Mr. Smith was the father of seven children, four sons and three daughters; Ezra, residing at Warren; J. M. of Marion; William, living south of the city; and J. B., residing on the farm; Mrs. Michael Stineman, Mrs. John Hall, living near Pioneer and Mrs. F. P. Bayer, of LaFontaine. He leaves his wife, children and a large circle of friends to mourn his death.

Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.

The funeral services of William Smith were held at the late residence in Paw Paw Township, Monday morning at 8:30 o'clock. Rev. N. W. Wiles officiating. Interment in Vernon Cemetery. The attendance was very large.
