Funeral services for Charles Smith, 89, who died August 18 at Sandpoint Manor, were held at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 21 at Moon Chapel, with Rev. David Steckmann, Conservative Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Smith was born October 12, 1877 at Guthrie Center, Iowa. He married Laura Ellen Athey March 30, 1901 at Redding, Iowa, and moved to Sandpoint in 1953 from Thompson Falls, Mont.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 1964; a son, Wilbur Leroy, who died in 1962; a daughter, Grace Reed, who died in 1961; two brothers, and one sister.
Survivors include one son, Everett Smith, Spokane, one daughter, Golda Scherlie, Chinook, Mont.; two sisters, Golda Sandwick and Myrtle Buckley, both of Lemmon, South Dakota; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
