Elmer Sherman Smith, 78, a former motel operator, died yesterday after a brief illness.
A native of Bagley, Iowa, he had lived in Ceres 29 years. He leaves his widow, Nannie Smith, of Ceres; a brother and two sisters, Charles F. Smith of Sandpoint, Idaho; Goldie Sandwick and Myrtle Buckley, of Lemmon, South Dakota; two grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are pending at the Salas Brothers-Moore Funeral Chapel.

Private funeral services for Elmer Sherman Smith, 78, who died Monday, will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Salas Brothers-Moore Funeral Chapel.
Elder Richard Harless will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery.
