With honor he served his country as a patriot and a soldier.
In the war of American Independence nobler and more imperishable honor rested upon him as a Christian.
In early life he became a member of the church and continued without reproach for more than 45 years.
His death like his life was calm and serene and cheered with the hope of the Gospel.
"Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord."
