Steven Phillips 55, Collierville, Tennessee, died Saturday January 16, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born July 22, 1954 in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Dale and Ruth (Woods) Phillips. He grew to manhood in rural Dickinson county attended the local schools and graduated from Chapman High School. He received an Agricultural Engineering degree from Kansas State University. In 1978 he was united in marriage with Sharon Honeycutt in Lindsey, Oklahoma. He worked for Halliburton in Great Bend, Kansas, and Petroleum Inc., Liberal, Kansas, and Mac Equipment in Kansas City, prior to moving to Collierville. For the past twelve and one half years, Steve held the position of Engineer and Territory Manager at Airdusco Inc.

He was a member of the Balmoral Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, and on the board of the Mississippi River Rangers, a cowboy action shooting association.

Surviving are his wife of thirty one years, Sharon, Collierville, two daughters, Emily Phillips, Atoka, Tennessee, and Katie Phillips, Memphis, Tennessee, his mother Ruth Phillips, Carlton, Kansas, a sister Dalene Judd, Collierville, Tennessee, and a brother Jerry Phillips and wife Jean, Austin, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Dale Phillips on March 13, 1984.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 19, 2010 at the Memorial Park Funeral Home, Memphis, Tennessee. Graveside services will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, rural Carlton, Kansas, Thursday January 21, 2010 at 10:00 AM. With Rev. Charles Norman officiating. The casket will be open 30 minutes prior to service time. The family will receive friends at the home of Ruth Phillips following the service.

The family of Steven Phillips suggests that friends may contribute to the Steve Phillips College Fund, c/o Independent Bank, 450 Perkins Extd, Memphis Tennessee, or the American Heart Association in his memory. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.
