He was a Baptist minister and missionary in Burma and India. The son of Peter and Louise Peters Ehrgott, he graduated from the University of Rochester, 1892. In addition, he attended Rochester Theological Seminary, Yale Divinity School, and Western Reserve University. He married poet and prominent suffragette Sara Bard Field (1882-1974) Sept. 11, 1900 in Detroit. She began a relationship with the poet Charles Erskine Scott Wood, and she and Albert were officially divorced November 14, 1914. He then married Mabel Dewitt March 7, 1926.
