OBITUARY--Ira Clayton Bennett Laid to Rest
Ira Clayton Bennett,78, farmer and concrete worker, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday at his home, R.1 Mound Valley. He had been ill two years, seriously the past four weeks. He was born near Edna, January 6, 1886 and spent his life in Labette County. He married Mable Houck on December 24, 1912 at Oswego and she survives. He also leaves a son, Orlyn, of the home; a brother, John, Chetopa; a sister, Mrs. Clyde Phillips, Lafayette, Colo.; and three granddaughters. He was a member of the Elm Christian Church, two miles west of Edna. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Goodwin Funeral Home, Edna. The Rev. Karl Hall officiated, assisted by the Rev. Arlin Petley. Burial was in the Altamont Cemetery.
