When Aloysius was 4 ½ years old his family purchased land in Windthorst, Archer County, Texas and moved to that community. His father obtained land there in December of 1906. The family attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Windthorst and the children attended the Catholic School.
When Aloysius had completed high school he went to Subiaco College in Subiaco, Arkansas. He was a graduate of the class of 1922. He continued his studies in pursuit of a vocation and on October 2, 1924 entered the Religious Profession at Subiaco, Arkansas. He eventually made his Solemn Vows on October 2, 1927 at Subiaco, Arkansas. He took the name of Anthony and was thereafter known as Father Anthony Schroeder, O.S.B.
The Rev. Anthony Schroeder, O.S.B. was ordained to the priesthood by the Rt. Rev. John B. Morris, D.D. on Sunday, December 16, 1928 at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas. Two weeks later he said his First Solemn High Mass in his home parish church of St. Mary's in Windthorst, Texas on Thursday, December 27, 1928. Both occasions were days of parish celebrations.
Rev. Anthony officiated at the funeral mass of his father, William John Schroeder, on March 13, 1959 at St. Mary's Church in Windthorst.
Father Anthony was serving St. Joseph's parish in Rhineland, Knox Co., Texas at the onset of his final illness. He lived at the St. Joseph's Church rectory. He was hospitalized at Bethania Hospital, Wichita Falls, Wichita Co., Texas, where he died on March 1, 1963 at the age of 60 yrs, 8 mos, 27 days.
