Mama on an Easter Sunday beside my bed of lilies - Pat
To My Family
The time has come to say goodbye
But nothing will ever sever,
The wonderful memories we shared
With a love that will last forever.
Death has dropped the final curtain
And the body separates from the soul,
To soar to that beautiful city
Where the streets are paved with gold.
Look up at night to the sky on high
And pick out a star or two,
Somewhere there along the milky way
I will be looking down at you.
Rejoice now that the time has come
When pain and sorrows are ‘ore.
Rejoice for me that a better home
Waits on that beautiful eternal shore.

Mama in her cozy little apartment with her crocheting by her side and a book within easy reach. Reading and crocheting were her passion. She was an excellent seamstress and made most of her own dresses and those of her daughters too when they were growing up. She continued to sew for the rest of her life. She loved her little "home" where she made so many friends because she just loved people and having visitors. She made many beautiful afghans for her children and other family members and friends. They are dearly treasured by each of us. Mama was the one who held our family together through thick and thin after Daddy died. That was when she moved into her little apartment in a retirement complex which she loved. She was the most popular person there. This is the picture of her that I keep on the top of my piano in my study because it is how I remember her best. - Pat

Memory Garden
I have planted a small garden
With paths bordered in gold,
Where multi-colored blossoms
Of friendship flowers unfold.
Here and there I will pluck a thorn
Or cast a brier away;
No weed shall mar its beauty here
Spread forth in bright array.
Each day and each shining hour
I will tend my garden with care;
I will find someone to clasp his hand
And let him bloom out there.
As evening shadows fall
At the close of my lonely day,
There behind my garden wall
I will work the hours away.
In the twilight of my life
When the night begins to lower,
I will stroll again down memory lane
And visit my friends once more.
We will stop and chat and reminisce
Of the days that used to be.
I will greet each smiling face again;
They will nod and call to me.
Someday when I leave this earth
I hope you will think of me;
And care enough to let me bloom
In your Garden of Memory.

Mama wrote beautiful poetry. Her book entitled "Life's Memories - My Legacy" has a copyright on it. Sons Larry and Allen both have published books. We "kids" wrote a book together about our childhood memories.

Thelma and her twin brother Elmer at age 80 - Uncle Elmer had a great sense of humor and had probably just said something funny to make her laugh. He was our favorite uncle. He and Mama got to spend many happy years together. It was so much fun when he was around because of his wry sense of humor. He always kept everybody laughing. I never saw him in a bad mood. It was his nature to be happy.

The angel was my addition to the cemetery in memory of Mama in 2004, the year that she passed away. It stands over seven feet tall and can be displayed with or without the wings. It faces the gate and is the first thing you see from a distance when approaching the cemetery. It adds a special beauty and serenity to the cemetery. Patriciaღ

Thelma Brady, at age 84 went to Panama with her son Larry Brady, who started the Panama Missions. She had been actively supporting the mission for many years and began sewing dresses for the little girls there. This began a nation-wide campaign with thousands of dresses being sewn each year by ladies of many different congregations across the United States. These are some of the many children she visited. They loved her and she loved them.

Mama's and Daddy's memorials are the two large ones in front and to the right of the angel. The angel is facing toward the entrance to the cemetery to welcome all who come to visit.
