Gatzke - Eunice C. Hagen, 8, died Thursday, Novemer 23 at Northwest Medical Center, in Thief River Falls.

Service were held on Sunday, November 26 at United Lutheran Church at Gatzke with Rev. Arlen Lloyd officiating. Special music was provided by organist Melanie Lunsetter and soloist Colleen Johnson. Selections were "It is Well With My Soul" and "Finally Home". "Amazing Grace" was sung by the United Church Choir. Congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art' and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."

Casketbearers were her grandchildren: Mark Overgaard, Scott Overgaard, Kelly Englund, Lon Englund, Lance Englund, Kurt England, Lori Hagen and Troy Johnson. Honorary casketbearers were all of Eunice's friends in attendance. Interment was in Moose River Cemetery, Rollis Township, Marshall County.

Eunice C. Johnson was born March 3, 1971 in Holt to Hjalmer and Emma (Stokke) Johnson, She was baptized at the Folden Church and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the Nazareth Lutheran Church. Eunice attended elementery school in Holt, graduated from high school and normal teachers training in East Grand Forks. She taught rural school in Mud Lake and Gatzke areas for several years.

On December 28, 1936, she was united in marriage to Delmar B. Hagen at Holt. At that time Eunice and Delmar began farming in the Gatzke area and she remained on the farm until the time of her death.

Eunice was an active member of United Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the United Church Women of the ELCA. She was also a member of the Eastern Marshall County Homemakers, Marshall County Historical Society, 4-H Club Leader, Grygla Lioness and Gatzke Senior Citizens. Eunice enjoyed traveling, family activities and homemaking.

In appreciation for nursing care, Eunice continued to sustain the Sue Stigen scholarship fund at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

She is survived by one son, Larry Hagen of Gatzke; two daughters, Harlene Overgaard of Roseville and Penny Johnson of Eagan, Eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Hyatt of Thief River Falls and Yvonne Green of Middle River; one brother, Francis Johnson of Newfolden and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar, September 2, 1988; her parents; Granddaughter, Lana Celinda Johnson; brother, Vernon Johnson and sister, Eloise Gilbert.
