C.T. Rountree Rites Wednesday

Funeral services for Charles T. Rountree, 6, of 652 Grant Street SE, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Central Methodist Church where the deceased was a member. Mr. Rountree died Monday at 11:50 a.m., at the Decatur General Hospital after a heart attack. He had been a patient at the hospital for a month and had been in failing health for about eight years.

Mr. Rountree came to Decatur from his home in Priceville while in his early 20s and began work with his brother, John, who operated a lumber business. Mr. Rountree later acquired and operated Rountree Lumber Co. on W. Moulton St. until his death.

A staunch Democrate and a person who took great interest in politics Mr. Rountree never ran for public office but took an active interest in all political affairs. Known to his many firends as "Mr. Charlie" he was at the time of his death serving as chairman of the board of North Alabama Livestock Coliseum of Decatur.

During his early life in the lumber business he built a number of Decatur homes and buildings, particularly business firms on Bank Street.

Deceased was a member of the original Country Club and served as its first president. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Body is to remain at Brown Funeral Home until Wednesday at l p.m. and at that time will be taken to Central Methodist Church and will lie in state until time for the service.

Service is to be conducted by the Rev. Wallace W. Lovett, the Rev. T.J. Chitwood and the Rev. A. H Nabors. Interment in City Cemetery is to be directed by Brown Funeral Co.

The son of the late Georgiana Thompson and Dr. W.S. Rountree, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Burleson Rountree; one sister, Mrs. N.S. Ziegler, Charlotte, N.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be H.L. Holt, Fred Robinson, Odie Lipscomb, Ben Britnell, Barrett Shelton and Sam Lile.

Family requests no flowers.
