Dr. D S Johnson Dies at Braxton

Friends and relatives throughout Chickasaw County were grieved to learn of the death of Dr. D S Johnson at his home in Braxton Monday afternoon.

For many years Dr. Johnson made his home in Houston, where he was connected with the first hospital established here. During the World War he joined the medical corps and was in service in France for several months. Upon his return to the United States he settled at Reid, in Calhoun County, later moving to Braxton. He was a member of one of the pioneer families of Chickasaw County, being the son of the late D S Johnson, Sr.

Surviving are his widow, formerly Miss Olivia Carman, and the following sister: Mrs. Maurice Carter of Clovis, New Mexico; Mrs. J T Carter, Sr., of Thelma; and one brother, Mr. G T Johnson of Dallas, Texas; also a large number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held in the Braxton Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon, followed by interment in the cemetery at Jackson.
