DAVIS - Arthur Franklin Davis, son of Ephraim and Sarah Davis, was born January 3, 1882 in Warren County, Iowa and died at Des Moines General Hospital following surgery August 15, 1967, at the age of 85 years, seven months and 12 days.
On September 28, 1904, he was united in marriage to Hattie Sams. To this union two children were born: Russell and Mrs. Arthur (Lorene) Hixson, both of Chariton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one great-granddaughter.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife; son and daughter; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law and son-in-law; three brothers, Ervia of Knoxville, Everett of Newton and Carl of Milo; three sisters, Hattie Moffitt of Knoxville, Maggie Tickle of Ottumwa and Elma Galvin of Melcher.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Azel Smith, of Creston, at 1:30 p.m., Friday, August 18, 1967 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was at the Lincoln Cemetery near Knoxville.
