David J. Huxel, 71, Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, in Lebanon.
Mr. Huxel was born in Washington Nov. 26, 1939, the son of the late Emil Huxel and wife Helen, nee Manhart.
He was the husband of Marcella Huxel, nee Nixon. They were united in marriage July 23, 1960, in Union.
Mr. Huxel was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Lebanon, and he proudly served in the U.S. Army.
He was the owner and operator of Loutre Servicenter in Hermann from 1978 to 1996. He then worked as a maintenance supervisor at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach for 10 years.
Mr. Huxel is survived by his wife, Marcella, Lebanon; three daughters, Susan Lenger and husband Steve, Hermann, Lisa Lauer and husband Kurt, New Florence, and Helen Davis, Lebanon; one son, Brian Huxel and wife Jody, Washington; four brothers, Emil Huxel and wife Ruth, Union, Robert Huxel and wife Mary Jane, Raymond Huxel and wife Leona and Mike Huxel and wife Darlene, all of Washington; two sisters, Doris Buhr, Washington, and Mary Hellmann and husband James, Villa Ridge; nine grandchildren, Madalynn and Andy Lenger, Kasi Dubois, Kelli Lauer and Gerry, Justin, Deann, Nathaniel and Kyle Davis; by four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brenna and Ciarra Lauer and Cooper Davis; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Jenna Lenger.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 28, at St. George Church, Hermann, with Father Bill Debo officiating.
Burial with full military honors was in Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann.
