Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 5, at First Lutheran Church in Warren. Interment was at the Greenwood Cemetery.
Joyce Elaine Carlson was born July 27, 1930, in rural Kennedy, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Wikstrom) Borsvold. She was raised in the Strandquist area and graduated from Strandquist High School. On Oct. 20, 1948, she married Clarence "Toby" Carlson. They made their home in Strandquist and Kennedy, before moving to Warren in 1959. Joyce was a bookkeeper at Massey Fergusson, Montgomery Ward and D and S Auto Supply before working as a clerk at Warren Hardware, Hardware Hank, and the Warren Elementary School. Toby died Feb. 20, 1999. In 2006, she moved to Little Falls and shortly after to Pierz. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Warren. She helped with the worship committee and was the financial secretary.
Left to mourn her passing are two children Sandra Dux of Detroit Lakes and Lynnae (Dan) Gilder of Little Falls; six grandchildren Jason (Angie) Gilder, Jeff (Amanda) Gilder, Joni (Dewayne) Rone, Ronda Dux, Peter Dux, Sara (Dan) Dockter; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Blake, Brady, Samuel, Parker and Aliya; brother, Gordon (Beverly) Borsvold of Strandquist; sister, Dorothy (Chuck) Bruce of LaPeer, Mich. and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law Kevin Dux; great-granddaughter Lily Dockter; sister, Carol Dick and an infant brother.
