Wayne, 94, passed away Wednesday, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, following a lingering illness. Wayne was the son of Worthy & Frankie (Avery) Tait, Sr., and grew up on a farm in the Shay Lake area.

Wayne was united in marriage with the former Sylvia M. DuRussel on January 11, 1939 in Sandusky. Wayne left the farming profession in 1951 to begin a career as a carpenter and later as an independent building contractor, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro and enjoyed going to the Oasis after work to talk with his friends and get the town news. He was also an avid golfer, a hobby that produced three holes-in-one.

Surviving is his wife of over seventy-two years, Sylvia M. Tait of Caro; four children and their spouses, JoAnn & John Wortz of Caro, Jean Frappier of Clio, Barbara & Dennis Henry of Caro, Larry & Nancy Tait of Orlando, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; one sister, Alice Klein of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his son JD Paul Tait in 1988; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Frei in 2005; his step-mother who raised him, Sarah (Shannon) Tait; four brothers and one sister, Frances Leigh Light, Forest E. Tait, Ralph Douglas DeVault, Boyd F. Tait and Worthy C. Tait, Jr.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Forget Me Not Association at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.
