Professional Horse Racing Jockey. He began his professional riding career under his father's tutelage in 1937 and was one the leading track riders by 1938. A veteran of 2,576 races, by the final day of the 1940 race season, he captured the 1940 National Championship with 287 wins and was named American Champion Jockey. On February 2, 1941, at the Agua Caliente Racetrack Tijuana, Mexico, Dew was riding in the sixth race when he was involved in a three-horse accident. He died at age 19 of a fractured skull while en route to hospital.
