COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY - 10/08/2011 - BAIN, LUCILLE FERRING MILLER, 98, of Shepherdsville, KY returned to her Heavenly Father on October 4, 2011 at Regency Nursing Home in Okolona, KY. She was born in Jefferson County, KY at home on the farm to John M. and Elizabeth Ferring. She graduated from Okolona High School in 1930 and then attended St. Joseph School of Nursing. Later, she took a comptometer course and went to work at Bradis and Gheens candy factory in Louisville. She married W.B. "Wink" Miller in 1937 and raised four children, Betty Hardesty, Doris Raynor, John Miller and Mary Roski while working part time at the grocery store in Okolona. After her husband died, she worked at Brooks Elementary School in Shepherdsville. In 1969 she married Jacob Bain, who had lost his wife, and they "combined their families." Together they had eight children, 18 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood, and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with Richard Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Hebron Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Sunday from 1-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst.
