The death of Mrs. Mary Chew Evans, wife of Walter H. Evans and sister of Miss Ada Chew and of Charles C. and Albert Chew of Garrett, took place Monday morning at 6 o'clock in the Illinois Central hospital, Chicago.
Mrs. Evans was taken sick April 3 at her home in Chicago and was removed to the hospital two days later. Pneumonia was the cause of her death.
Mrs. Evans was a daughter of the late William and Emily Chew and was born near Shelby, O., July 4, 1863. While the family was still living at Shelby, she married, on December 15, 1892, to Mr. Evans, whose home was at Newark, O.
Surviving besides the husband is one son, Walter Chew Evans, as well as the two brothers and two sisters. The other sister is Mrs. Eric Pilger of Buffalo.
Mrs. Evans was a member of Woodlawn Presbyterian church, Chicago.
The body was brought to Garrett Tuesday night on No. 6 and the funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Albert Chew, at Keyser and Franklin streets. The Rev. Fred M. Newlin of the Reformed Presbyterian church officiated and interment was made in Calvary.
