CHARLENE STEPHENS
Charlene was born in rural Newbern, Iowa on May 12, 1936 to Russell and Nina Davis. The Lord called her home on Sept. 17, 2006.
She was united in marriage to Wilbert Stephens on Feb. 4, 1953 in Russell. Charlene adored her husband, Wilbert and loved her family, as well as her friends and church family. She spent her life as a loving wife and mother of three children.
Charlene enjoyed reading, word puzzles, traveling, listening to gospel music and eating out with family members. Her caring and concern for others and her sweet, gentle spirit was obvious to all. She will be greatly missed.
Charlene had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with one more due in October.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbert; son, Derald (Patti); daughters, Debby (Steve) and Denise, all of Chariton; one brother, LaVern (Lois), also of Chariton and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
