Charlotte Stevens Dies
Mother of Fire Marshal Succumbs at Early Hour Today
Mrs. Charlotte L. Stevens, mother of Fire Marshal Stevens, died early today at her home, 116 West Chicago street, St. Johns. Mrs. Stevens had been unconscious since yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Stevens was 64 years old. She had lived in Portland 12 years. At her bedside last night were her husband, Henry C. Stevens, and Jay Stevens, fire marshal. She had three other children, J. C. Stevens, of Culver, Or., who is expected here today; Gilbert W., a Lieutenant in Battery A, on service on the Mexican border, and Mrs. Lily Henderson, of Broken Bow, Neb.

Stevens, of Culver, Or.; Lieutenant Gilbert W. Stevens, of Battery A, and Mrs. Lily Henderson, of Broken Bow, Neb. Remains are at Holman's Undertaking Parlors. Announcement of funeral later.

Marshal Stevens' Mother Buried Today - Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte Stevens, mother of Fire Marshal Jay Stevens, will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Holman chapel. The body will be taken to Weston, Neb., for burial. Lieutenant Gilbert Stevens, of Battery A, Field Artillery, a son of Mrs. Stevens, will arrive in the city today from Calexico, where he has been stationed with the Oregon troops.

Funeral services for Charlotte Stevens were held Wednesday at the Holman chapel. The body was taken to Weston, Neb., for burial. Mrs. Stevens died January 13.
She was the mother of Fire Marshal Jay Stevens, of Portland; Lieutenant Gilbert W. Stevens, of Battery A, Oregon Field Artillery; Mrs. Lilly Henderson, Broken Bow, Neb., and J. C. Stevens, of Culver, Or. Funeral services were conducted by Minerva Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. The body was taken East by H. C. Stevens, husband of the deceased. Mrs. Stevens had lived in Oregon 11 years.
