He was a farmer, roofer and general laborer. He married Cecilia Aldena Russell Dove on November 15, 1933 in Collin County, Texas. They had one child, Billy Dale Dove, in 1935. Chester died on December 20, 1990 of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
