Logansport, La.-Mrs. Hazel Lucille Stephens, age 86, went to sleep Monday Feb. 6, 2012 in Shreveport at Lifecare, and woke up in Heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a resident of the Pine Grove Community.
She was born to the late Robert and Ada Batts Henry, Jan 26, 1926 in Logansport. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and most of all a Christian lady.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 64 years, Babe Stephens, and her son Danny Stephens, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968, brothers J.W. Henry and Ray Henry, and her sister Vera Mae Barton.
She is survived by daughters Lucy Pitts and husband James, Melba Townsend and husband Gene, and by her sons, Jimmy Stephens and wife Sandra, Wallace Stephens all of Logansport, and Jack Stephens of Joaquin, Texas; and her sister Mildred Watts of Chandler, Texas. 13 grandchildren, Tammy Claybrook and husband Ernest jr, Lynn Stephens and wife Angie, Kim Jergins and husband David, Dane Blount and wife Miranda, Jeffrey Glaze and wife Joyce, Josh Glaze and wife Candace, Danny Wayne Stephens and wife Breanna, April Arbuckle and husband Lee J, Ava Stephens, Tony Pitts and wife Dianne, Tammy Clark and husband Chris, Clint Townsend and wife Stacey, Latonya Hooter and husband Anthony; 29 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was Wednesday, Feb 8, 2012 from 5-9 at Roseneath Funeral Home in Logansport.
The funeral service was Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 at 2 PM in the funeral home in Logansport with Brother Wayne Jones, pastor of Freedom Baptist Mission of Logansport.
Interment followed at Bethel Cemetary.
Pallbears were Lynn Stephens, Dane Blount, Jeffrey Glaze, Danny Wayne Stephens, Josh Glaze, and Ernest Claybrook, jr. Honorary pallbearers were David Jergins, Lee J. Arbuckle, Tony Pitts, and Clint Townsend.
