Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Lipscomb Gardner, 94, who died Tuesday, will be at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from the Austin Funeral Home at 2118 Eighth Avenue, South. Dr. Roger T Nooe and the Rev. H.S. Lipscomb will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Gardner was a sister of the Late David Lipscomb, who founded the Nashville college named after him. She was the widow of James I. Gardner, Both were born in Franklin County.
Mrs. Gardner was a daughter of pioneer parents, and her five brothers, all deceased, were well know in Nashville business and religious circles. She was an active worker for the Church of Christ, of which she was a member.
She was one of the few residents able to recall the trying times of the war Between the States, during which she was at her home in Franklin County.
