To Be Buried Today
Funeral services for John Granville Gardner Sr., 75, of 304 Trinity lane, who diedat 4 a.m. yesterday in a Nashville hospital will be held at 3 p.m. today at Phillips-Robinson funeral home.
H. M. Phillips wil officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn memorial park.
Mr. Gardner, a retired insurance salesman, had been in ill health for several years.
A native of Beans Creek, Tenn. in Franklin county, Mr. Gardner was the son of James Isham and Ellen Lipscomb Gardner.
For many years following his marriage to the former Miss Helen Dawson, who survives, Mr. Gardner made his home in Winchester, Tenn.
He moved to Nashville in 1926 and was an insurance sales man for the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Co. and the continental Fire Insurance Co, before his retirement about 20 years ago.
Mr.Gardner was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frances Nawrocki of Falls Church, Fa.; two sons, John G. Gardner Jr. and James T. Gardner both of Nashville, and a sister; Mrs. Sarah Covington of Springfield, Mo.
Three grandchildren also survive.
