Lloyd Lenhart, 83, died on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Casket bearers included Matthew Lenhart, Michael Lenhart, Jim Greene, John LeDuc, Thomas Simpson, Owen Steinhauer and Jonathan Steinhauer. Honorary casket bearers included all of Lloyd's family and friends. Military honors were provided by Armerican Legion Post 117 and VFW Post 2793. Interment was held at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Lloyd Lenhart was born on December 3, 1927 in rural Radium, MN, the son of Gardy and Verna (Pojrier) Lenhart. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church in Warren, MN. He attended several rural schools and grew to adulthood in the Radium area.

Lloyd served his country with the United States Army. He served in Japan during World War II and was honorably discharged on September 7, 1952.

Lloyd was united in marriage to Violet Simpson of Angus, MN. The couple made their home in Warren, for 14 years, before moving to rural Angus where they had a hobby farm. In 1993, they moved to Thief River Falls, MN. Lloyd started working for the Great Northern Railroad which was later called the Burlington Northern for 37 years.

He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. Lloyd enjoyed most being with his family and visiting with friends. He also enjoyed doing carpentry and mechanics, fishing and helping other people.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Violet; sons, David (Geraldine) Lenhart of Warren and Timothy Lenhart of Crookston; grandchildren: Tanya Mock of Warren, Michael (Jamie) Lenhart of Dilworth, Matthew (Susan) Lenhart of Grand Forks, ND, and Christina Lenhart of Crookston; 8 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Autum, Hannah, Austin, Jared, Justin, Analise and Ciada; brothers and sisters: Donny (Berniece) Lenhart, Marvin Lenhart, Betty (Don) Ballard, Arylne Soiney, Patsy Elliot; sister-in-law, Lucy Simpson; brother-in-law, Don Allard.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Lenhart; his parents; brothers and sisters: Wayne Lenhart, Laverne Knutson, Fern Knutson, Faye Lenhart and Dennis Lenhart.
