Was Devoted Member of Church Of Christ; Traveled For Years --

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence on North Elk Avenue for Granville E. Lipscomb, who died suddenly Monday, December 19. Services were conducted by Rev. W. Taylor Clark, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, assisted by Elder C. C. McQuiddy, pastor of the Church of Christ. Mr. Lipscomb had reached his home Monday, after having worked during the morning at the local hospital and with members of the Riverview Cemetery Association, when he suffered the heart seizure, from which he died about 1:30.

Mr. Lipscomb, the son of the late John and Sallie Smith Libscomb, was born and reared in Franklin County, near Belvidere. He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, as the Lipscombs have been for generations. The church at this place will suffer a great loss in his passing.

Since his retirement from the road last June, after thirty-seven years of service with the H. G. Lipscomb Company of Nashville, Mr. Lipscomb has given his time and attention to the hospital. He was elected a member of the Hospital Committee in April 1930. His work on the committee, and as president of the Riverview Cemetery Association has been well done. His burial in the new cemetery was the second to take place there.

He is survived by his wife, Lou Marshall Redman Lipscomb, and the following children: Mrs. Wilson Uzzle of Durham, North Carolina, Mrs. Walter Anderson of Columbia, and Mrs. Frank Beasley of Franklin, a David Libscomb, Publisher of the Lebanon Banner; four grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Wiley Porter of Nashville, Mrs. Bud Anderson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Amanda Guill of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, John and Will Lipscomb of Denver, Colorado.

In addition to numbers of friends from Bean's Creek, Huntland, Petersburg, and other nearby towns, attending the funeral Wednesday were Mrs. Wiley Porter, Mrs. Robert Blakemore, Mr. Jouitt Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lipscomb of Nashville; Mrs. Leonard Brittain, Mr. and Mrs. Dobson Johnson and Miss Sarah Beasley of Franklin; Mr. Aubrey Smith and Mr. Butler of Huntsville, and Messrs. Allan and Robert I. Moore of Brentwood.
