Millard VanHoose, age 72, of Thealka, died Friday, August 13 1965,in a local hospital following an illness of five weeks. Born Feb.13 1893, he was the son of the late Life and Matilda Castle VanHoose. He was a retired miner and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Emma Ratliff VanHoose; three sons, Hobert, Mitchell and Paul VanHoose of Urbana, Ohio; seven daughters, Mrs Edna Mae Castle, Mrs. Ruth Ratliff, and Mrs. Irene Castle of Urbana, Ohio; Mrs Emogene Tackett of Paintsville; Mrs. Katherine Wilcox, of Hartville, Ohio; Mrs. Virgie Picklesimer, of Milford Center, Ohio; and Mrs. Margie Jackson of Paintsville; three brothers, Fred VanHoose of Paintsville; Earl and Archie VanHoose of Thealka; and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Taylor, of Gallipolis, Ohio. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 15 10:00 a.m. at the Thealka Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Don Fraley and Bob Blanton officiating. Burial was conducted at the family Cemetery at Turner Branch withthe Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge.
