David was the last of five children born to William and Gertrude (Towns) Findlay. He married Iva Inez Dillabough on April 19, 1916. David was drafted into the U.S. Army, 329th Field Artillery, during World War I and was sent to France. He came home badly crippled from Rheumatism, causing his spine to curve severely. Though David and Iva never had any children of their own, they were a loving uncle & aunt to their many nieces and nephews.
