Nora Krome Smiley was a sister of William J. Krome, the chief engineer for Henry M. Flagler's Key West Extension, which was temporarily completed in 1912 so that Henry M. Flagler could ride into Key West and it was finally completed in 1916. Her sister, Clara, married Philip L. Wilson and he had a wholesale hardware business on Miami Beach but had previously worked for Flagler's railroad. Both sisters lived in South Florida after their husbands died - Nora in Key West and Clara in Miami Beach.

Note: The copy of the obituary, posted by Heavensty on November 29, 2018, is from The News Leader, presumably a newspaper in New Providence, VA. However, the Florida death certificate for Nora Krome Smiley states that the burial took place in the Middlebrook Cemetery in Middlebrook, VA. The informant on the death certificate was Mrs. W. Bowman Cutter, Nora's daughter. The photograph of the marker was taken at the New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Update, February 1, 2019: A photo volunteer reported that the New Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery office has no record of Nora K. Smiley being buried in plot 257. Grier Smiley is buried in one of the eight graves in the plot and the only other burial is Bess G. Rhodes Smiley. This seems to indicate that the Florida death certificate may be correct.

Update, April 8, 2020: "When the photo of Grier Smiley's marker was taken in 2013, there was no inscription for Nora. Her inscription has been added sometime in the past few years. Nora is not listed in the cemetery's alphabetical files, and she is not shown on the plot diagram for Plot 257 where Grier is buried." -- Isabelle Chewning, FAG contributor 47654148.
