She was cheerleader and played softball in High School. She had worked at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg as a nurse’s aide for many years, the Country Store and Schlabach’s Store both in Walnut Creek and was a volunteer at Global Crafts for many years. She was a life member of the Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.
She was married on June 7, 1947 to Raymond Starner and he died on January 30, 2008. She is survived by her children; Randy Starner of Sugarcreek, Sue (Bob)Weaver of Nashville and Linda (Denny) Weiss of Millersburg; grandchildren, Jeremy (Kelly) Weiss, Ryan (Amanda) Weiss, Amy (Ryan) Easterday, Todd (Laura) Weaver and Erin (Caleb) Moan; great grandchildren, Blake Weiss, Alexis Weiss, Eden Weiss, Lily Weiss, William Moan, Marcus Moan, Brenna Moan, Noah Weaver, Olivia Weaver, Evelyn Weaver and Hannah Easterday.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Francis (Gerald) Mast, brother Howard (Norma) Miller, and an infant brother Tommy Miller.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 Am at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Don Hamsher officiating. Family burial in the Church Cemetery will be held prior to services. Friends may call on Monday 5-7 PM at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church. Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to Walnut Creek Mennonite Church- Love Fund PO Box 182 Walnut Creek, Ohio 44687. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
