Rex M. LaBarr
LaBARR, Rex M. - Of Clio, age 76, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on
July 9, 2007. He is the husband of Marjorie (Olmstead) LaBarr and father of Linda
Smalley, Renee and husband Wayne Pifer and Rexann and husband Mike Wentworth, all of
Clio. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Dana (Chuck) Markasich of Minnesota, Joel,
Lindsay and Jonathan Smalley, Shannon (Brandon) Leighton and Nicole and Jordan
Wentworth. In addition are 8 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mikael, Holland, Danica,
Noah, Lilly, Rylee and Scarlett; sisters of Rex are Beverly Stevens of Florida,
Barbara (Willis) Taylor of Clio, Berneice (Jim) Nicholas of Clio; and sister-in-law,
Roselynn Dimitroff of West Branch. Also, surviving are special sister-in-law, Audrey
Olmstead of Clio and lifelong friend, Gene Youngs and wife Ruth of Flint. He was born
on September 25, 1930 in Flint. He is the son of Wesley and Mary Evelynn LaBarr. Rex
married Marjorie Olmstead on October 7, 1950. He retired from Buick in 1988 after 40
years of service. Rex was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at
his cottage with family and friends. Per his request, there will be no visitation.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a family memorial at a later date. The
memorial will take place at Torch Lake. Preceded in death are: mother and father;
6 in-laws; and 6 nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his canine companions,
Taz and Kobe. The family would also like to give a special thanks to hospice nurses,
Jaina and Judy.
