C. Jay Troxell, 94, a funeral director here since 1895 and possibly the oldest in the state, died at 8:45 p.m. yesterday at his home after a brief illness. He was born at Roseland, Cambria County, on Feb. 28, 1868; one of 11 children born to Alexander and Matilda (Gates) Troxell and on May 25, 1899 married Bertha Glasgow who died in 1937. Surviving are four children; Herbert E. and Russell L. of Glasgow, Robert C. of Altoona and Mrs. Marion Youngkin of Meadville; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a sister and brother, Mrs. Nancy Thomas of Newton Falls, Ohio and Clarence (Clark) of Johnstown. A son Harold, died in 1956. Mr. Troxell was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran church, Glasgow, of the Coalport Lodge F&A.M. and for more than 50 years a member of the Alleman Lodge I.O.O.F here. Friends will be received at the Troxell Funeral Home after 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Troxell Funeral Home, Glasgow, by the Rev. Raymond F. Wieder. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Glasgow. Masonic services were held Sunday at 8 p.m.
