Clarence A Troxell, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad blacksmith, died suddenly yesterday in Oakland while taking his wife to a hospital. Mr. Troxell, 76, of 831 Ash St., Johnstown, worked as a blacksmith in Johstown and for many years at the PRR's Pitcairn Yards.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martha Troxell, a son, Ray Troxell, a daughter, Mrs. Jesse Williams, and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Thomas.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Geisel Funeral Home, Johstown.
