CROOKSTON -- Harold R. Schumaker, 83, Crookston, died Sunday, July 23, 2000, in Riverview Hospital, Crookston.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 28, 2000, at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home. Interment will be in the St. Olds Cemetery in Grygla, Minnesota.
Visitation will be for one hour before the funeral.
Harold Ruben Schumaker was born Oct. 18, 1916, the son of Fred and Rectina (McCoy) Schumaker, in Sparta, Wis. When he was three years old, Harold moved with his family to Grygla, Minnesota, where he attended school.
In 1958, he was united in marriage to Augusta Heyer in Bemidji, Minnesota. Over the years, the couple lived in several northern Minnesota towns. Augusta passed away in 1966.
Harold came to Crookston several years ago. He was a regular at the Golden Link Senior Center in town, where he enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Loving family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Art (Della), Cass Lake, Minnesota; a daughter, Charlotte Schumaker, in Missouri; three grandchildren, Christopher, Cassandra and Michelle Schumaker; and brothers and sister-in-law, Wesley and Joyce Laughery, Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Jesse and Mary Jane Laughery, Crookston, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Besides his wife, Augusta, Harold was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Orville, Robert and Raymond; a sister, Clara Hudson; a brother, Leonard Schumaker; and a niece, Diane Hudson.
