CLARA E.RANUM, 94
Clara E. Ranum, 94, a former resident of Viking, died July 17 at the Fridley Convalescent Home in Fridley.
Funeral services will be held July 21 at 10 a.m., at the Zion Lutheran church in Viking with Rev. Del Lind, Mrs. Ranum's son-in-law officiating. Scripture readings will be given by Rev. Roger Grundhaus, a grandson. Special music will be provided by grandchildren Jane Mattson and Phillip Ranum, soloists, and Gloria Ness, organist.
Casketbearers will be Kenneth Ranum, Wayne Ranum, David Ranum, Timothy Lind, Scott Forland and Leslie Grundhaus, all grandsons. Interment will be in the Rindal cemetery. The Belmont Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 12 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Belmont Funeral Home and on Friday for one hour before the service.
Clara Estella Olson was born Feb. 26, 1895, Thief River Falls, the daughter of John and Mari (Stengelson) Olson. She moved from her family to the Viking area when she was six years old and grew up there. In 1914 she was married to Oscar Ranum. He died in 1924. She married Alfred Ranum in 1934 and they continued to make their home in the Viking area until 1966 when they moved to Thief River Falls. He died in 1973. In 1985 she moved to the Twin Cities area where she remained.
She is survived by three daughters: Marceline Grundhaus, Thief River Falls, Mrs Shel (Delores) Forland of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Del (Margaret) Lind of Lakeville; three sons; Oral Ranum of Stanley, N.D., Maynard Ranum of Burnesville and Oscar Ranum of Roseville; three stepdaughters; Mrs. Isabel Kron of Willmar, Mrs. Elsie Hodick of Thief River Falls and Mrs. Alice Kezar of Thief River Falls; three stepsons: Lloyd Ranum of Viking, Sidney Ranum of California and Stanley Ranum of Grand Forks, ND; 27 grandchildren; 30 step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Paulson of Marysville, WA.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Stanley; four stepsons; Knute, John, Sanford and Glenn; two step-daughters; Agnes and Florence; her parents; one brother and one sister.
