Marceline Jeannette Ranum was born on July 21, 1917, in Warren, MN, to Oscar and Clara (Olson) Ranum. She grew up in rural Viking, MN and attended Columbus School and attended ninth grade at the Warren High School.

She worked as a domestic until she met William Grundhaus. They were married at St. Bernard's Rectory, Thief River Falls, on January 21, 1938. They raised six children in rural Thief River Falls.

Marceline loved homemaking, and was adept at all the domestic arts: gardening, cooking and canning, sewing, quilting, knitting and other crafts. She was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. At various times she also worked for Arctic Industries, at Oakland Park Nursing Home, and did alterations for Duane's Dress Shop. She was a devoted member of St. Bernard's Parish, belonging to the Women's Guild and Circle; she sang in the funeral choir and served many funeral lunches, laundered the altar linens, was cook and laundress for several years at the rectory. She attended Mass daily when possible and spent an hour weekly in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. She also maintained strong friendships with the women in her neighborhood and was an active member of the Helperettes Club.

In 2006 she moved to the Summit Assisted Living Apartments of the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston and later into nursing care at the same facility.

She is survived by sons: Msgr. Roger Grundhaus, Crookston, and Leslie (Kay) Grundhaus, Torrance, CA; and daughters: Jane (Bruce) Mattson, Thief River Falls, Cynthia (Richard) Delorme, St. Cloud, and Mary (Jeff) Kuhn, Starbuck, MN, and daughter-in-law Marjorie (Pope) Grundhaus, Seattle, WA; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Oscar "Bud" (Delores) Ranum; half-sisters: Delores (Sheldon) Forland, Shawnee, KS, and Margaret (Delano) Lind, Savage, MN; and step-brother Sidney Ranum, Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William "Bill" on May 20, 1977, and son, William; brothers, Oral and Maynard Ranum; step-brothers: Lloyd, John, Glen, Sanford, and Stanley Ranum; and step sisters: Agnes Jensen, Isabelle Krohn, Alice Kezar, Florence Ueland, and Elsie Hodik.
