Shem Peachey Dies at 83
Shem Peachey, 83, of Landis Homes retirement community, Lititz R3, formerly of Quarryville R3, died at Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital today at 12:01 a.m. following an extended illness.
A member and former pastor of Bart Mennonite Church, located in Bart, he served widely in the Mennonite Church as a Bible teacher, writer, and minister.
His wife, Salome Bender Peachey died June 20, 1972.
A resident of Lancaster County for the past 21 years, he previously resided near Springs, Somerset County, for 35 years.
Born in Belleville, he was a son of the late Levi L. and Lydia Yoder Peachey.
He is survived by the following children: Mark, Irwin, Ohio; Paul, Washington, D. C.; Lois, wife of Allen Yoder, and Rhoda, wife of Norman Moore, both of Silver Springs, Md.; Ruth, wife of Rod Happel, Sanibel Island, Fla.; Laban, Hesston, Kan.; Anna, wife of Paul Shenk, Laconia, N.H.; Esther, wife of Harry Lefever, Atlanta, Ga.; Urbane, Aman, Jordan, and Jane, wife of Loren Lind, Toronto, Ont.; 28 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one brother, Levi Peachey, Belleville.
