Alfred was the 2nd child born to William and Gertrude (Towns) Findlay. He married Linnie Mae Avery on January 12th, 1911, in Caro, Michigan. They were the parents of four children, Erma, Evelyn, Budd, and Maxine. Linnie became ill with tuberculosis, and was sent to a sanitarium in Lapeer county, where she passed away in 1920.

Alfred later married Mary Ann Kusek in 1923. They had 6 sons together, Robert, Raymond, Donald, Edward, Gerald, and Thomas. He divorced Mary shortly after their 6th son was born.

Alfred passed away from a heart attack when he was 53 years old. He was buried next to his first wife, Linnie.
