I believe that Barbara Starns was probably a daughter of Joseph Starns (c.1730-1779) and his wife Katherine, perhaps Carlock. She married her cousin, David Starnes (c.1758-aft. 1833) in 1784.

Barbara and David had at least three sons, Nathaniel Starnes (c.1785-1860s, m. Susannah Bost, probably buried here), Joseph Starnes (c. 1787-1850s, m. Catherine "Kate" Thompson, probably buried here) and Valentine M. Starnes (1792-1880, m. Elizabeth Richardson, buried at Prospect Methodist Church.) Many of their descendants lived in this area.
