In 1870, George and Sarah were living in Bedford, Wayne County, Illinois where George worked as a school teacher. In 1880, they were living in Washington Township, Warren County, Iowa. After moving to Girard, Crawford County, Kansas, George became the town's deputy. In 1910, Sarah was living in the household of her daughter and son-in-law, Oscar and Clara Wooley, in Girard, Kansas.
George died in a soldier's home in California 6 or 7 years later. The family story tells that Sarah married again when she was in her 80s to Alonzo L. Ferguson.
