Floyd Haugen, 75, of Alvarado, MN, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009 at Oakland Park Nursing Home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Floyd Jerome Haugen was born on April 25, 1934 in Big Woods Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of John and Viola (Tverstol) Haugen. He was a life long resident of the Alvarado area. Floyd graduated from Alvarado High School. He married Anna Gurneau. Floyd worked as a farm laborer and also at Arctic Cat for twelve years.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. Floyd also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, playing cards, going to casinos, polka music, and taking afternoon drives seeking deer. He always had pockets full of candy for all kids big and small.

Left to mourn his passing are his children, Nadine (Ron) Haugen of St. Hilaire, MN, Peggy Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN, Shelly (Mike) Nickaboine of Detroit Lakes, MN, Scott (Robyn) Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN, Laura (Brent) Davison of West Fargo, ND, Connie (Scotty) Haugen of Newfolden, MN and Mark (Kim) Haugen of Thief River Falls, MN; twenty-three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Kelly (Rose) Haugen of Wyoming, MN, Bonnie (Ronald) Olson of East Grand Forks, MN, Vivian (Ralph) Hanson, Jan (Dwight) Marciniak and Shirley Kollin all of Alvarado, MN and Kay (Dave) Olson of Ramsey, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Edward Gurneau and John and Ann Margaret Haugen and brothers, Lee and Dean.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado, MN. VISITATION: After 5:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service on Friday at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado, MN and one hour before services on Saturday. INTERMENT: Bigwoods Lutheran Cemetery, rural Oslo, MN.
