Cathreen was the infant daughter of William Edward and Mary Effie Mattingly Dowling. Died from dehydration during infancy due to an illness. For those that may be be confused, her parents later had another daughter and baptized her with the same name (Mary Catherine "Kitty" Dowling Barlow). In all family discussions the earlier Mary Catherine was always referred to as Cathreen and my mother Mary Catherine was always referred to as Kitty.
According to my mother,the infant Cathreen is buried in the same grave at St. Rose as her grandfather John Hilary Dowling and only marked with his name.
